The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Team Lead, Operations, will be responsible for the management and delivery of IT services for Association employees and ensuring that IT services and operations are robust, secure and maintained to industry standards. The incumbent will manage, plan, coordinate and design the delivery of the ATA’s IT-related activities, as well as coordinate support for the daily operational activities of the ITS department with both staff and managed service providers. This position will also define and implement IT operational policies, procedures and best practices surrounding the management and delivery of IT systems and services. Specifically, this position is responsible for the following:

  • Coordinating the ITS department’s annual operational and strategic plan, including identifying opportunities for innovation and investment, planning and executing operational projects, developing and submitting annual capital and operation budgetary, and organizing and negotiating for resource allocation
  • Assisting the Chief Information Officer with duties associated with identifying and driving continuous improvements of ITS standards, policies, practices and processes
  • Benchmarking, analyzing and reporting on vendor service levels and effectiveness
  • Preventing and managing usage spikes and making recommendations to improve efficiencies
  • Working with the Chief Information Officer to develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
  • Developing and implementing operational IT policies and procedures, including those for security, standards, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision
  • Working with the Chief Information Officer to negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Overseeing the provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services
  • Managing the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software and peripherals, both in the office and on cloud platforms
  • Directing research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts
  • Planning the evergreening of technology and the implementation of new technologies
  • Preserving assets by implementing disaster recovery, back-up procedures, information security and control structures
  • Monitoring team activities to ensure ongoing alignment with strategic plans and individual goals
  • Educating users through collaboration with business leaders and vendors
  • Presenting changes to technology services functionality to partners
  • Escalating issues/opportunities as needed to get results
  • Providing back up to the Chief Information Officer as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or a related field (equivalencies with experience may be considered)
  • Three years of IT team supervisory experience overseeing both staff and IT call centre/contractors in a professional setting (equivalencies with education may be considered)
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development
  • Strong operational skillset with a service attitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure services
  • Experience working with managed service provider vendors
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Knowledge of cyber security best practices
  • Strong understanding of project management principles
  • Strong understanding of the M365 platform
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, manage rapidly changing situations and handle shifting and competing priorities
  • Ability to act strategically and tactically
  • Experience working in a member-driven association is an asset
