The Alberta Teachers’ Association has released the following statement in response to the Government of Alberta's announcement to triple the number of CASA Mental Health Classrooms provincewide, with all classrooms expected to be online by 2026.

“The expansion of CASA classrooms is one step in addressing the mental health crisis in Alberta schools. This announcement, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week, is welcomed. Teachers have identified student mental health as a vital area of concern. These additional classrooms will meet the needs of students requiring the specialized mental health support that CASA classrooms provide. Integrating mental health services into schools brings us closer to ensuring students receive the education they deserve.”
