The ATA Library is still open and providing resources to members.
Staff are working from home and continue to serve members online and by phone.
The Southern Alberta Regional Office (SARO) in Calgary is unaffected and conducts business per usual.
New scholarships support ATA members’ graduate studies
Alberta Teachers’ Association(ATA) members pursuing graduate studies have a new opportunity to support their professional learning.
Beginning in the 2026/27 school year, City University is offering up to seven scholarships for active ATA members enrolled in select graduate programs.
“Professional learning is an investment in both teachers and their students,” said ATA President Jason Schilling. “Graduate study gives teachers an opportunity to deepen their knowledge, expand their professional practice and bring new perspectives back to their classrooms and school communities.”
This fall, up to five scholarships will be available for City University’s Master of Education in Leadership program, providing a 50 per cent reduction in the tuition. The program is intended for educators who want to strengthen their leadership knowledge and apply it in schools, classrooms and other learning settings.
City University will also offer up to two scholarships for its Master of Counselling Psychology program, with each providing a 25 per cent reduction in tuition. The program is offered in Calgary and Edmonton, as well as virtually.
“These scholarships are one way the ATA is supporting members as they continue to grow in their career,” said Schilling.
City University will manage the application and adjudication processes for these new scholarships. Active members interested in either program should review program requirements, delivery options and admission information through City University’s website at cityuniversity.ca.
