National Indigenous Peoples Day

In June, we commemorate National Indigenous History Month. During this month, take time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada. Find more resources, support, and information about Indigenous trailblazers, commemorative promotional resources, and more from the Government of Canada.

Consider reaching out to local organizations for more ideas to acknowledge and celebrate National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day. In Calgary, Aboriginal Awareness Week is June 18–24, 2023.

The City of Edmonton website lists many Indigenous History Month experiences happening in Edmonton and the surrounding area.
