Induction ceremonies

Every year, ATA locals officially welcome hundreds of new teachers into the profession at local induction ceremonies. This page provides resources, guidelines and order forms to help locals plan their upcoming induction events.

Guidelines for Organizing Local Induction Ceremonies

This document contains information to help ATA locals plan their annual induction ceremonies. It offers general guidance on budgeting, venue rental and planning considerations as well as a sample program with detailed speaking notes.

Guidelines for Local Induction Ceremonies

Request Induction Kits

Every new member receives an induction kit containing an induction certificate, an ATA pin and resources to help them succeed in their first years of teaching.

Kits are provided to locals at no cost. To order, complete the request form and email it to pd@ata.ab.ca at least three weeks before your ceremony.

Request for Induction Materials Form

Some locals hold a single event for their induction and retirement ceremonies. For this reason, retirement certificates can also be requested using the Induction Materials Form.

Order inductees gifts from the ATA store

Locals can purchase ATA-branded gifts such as mugs, journals and pens for their inductees.

Invite ATA Table Officers to Your Induction Ceremony

An important part of every induction ceremony is hearing from a senior leader of the teaching profession. ATA table officers are available to greet new members and take part in the ceremony (e.g., by leading the professional pledge or charge or by presenting the Association lapel pins).

To invite a table officer to your induction ceremony, please email government@ata.ab.ca.
