The Opportunity
The Accounting Technician II (Subgroup Services) provides accurate, timely and confidential accounting services to Association subgroups, and executive members. The incumbent helps subgroups on a daily basis in maintaining financial information and producing documentation. Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Accountant (Subgroup Services) on a daily basis and other Finance staff as required.
- Organizing and maintaining subgroup financial documents and working papers.
- Entering financial data provided by subgroups into accounting software.
- Communicating with and providing general advice to subgroup treasurers in order to resolve accounting issues.
- As directed by the Accountant (Subgroup Services), helping to resolve issues arising from the delivery of accounting services.
- Generating financial statements using financial accounting software and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Preparing account analyses and making necessary adjustments.
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Maintaining accurate files, databases and records for related duties.
- Backing up other Finance staff and assisting with work overload as needed.
- Documenting the responsibilities and duties of the position and keeping these records up to date.
- Completing special projects and other duties as assigned.
If you have
- Certificate or diploma in accounting or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is an asset.
- Three years of full-cycle accounting experience in a professional setting. Equivalencies with education may be considered.
- Experience with bookkeeping
- Experience working in a member-driven association or non-profit organization is an asset.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office applications (word, excel) and accounting software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills
- The ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.
