This overwhelming show of unity sends a powerful message to government: Alberta’s teachers are standing together for meaningful change in public education. Thank you to everyone who participated in this historic vote.

Next Steps

Provincial Executive Council (PEC) will meet on June 12–13 to determine next steps, given the new and enhanced mandate that the teachers of Alberta have provided.

Teachers now have 120 days to initiate strike action if a satisfactory resolution to this round of central bargaining cannot be achieved. This timeline gives us room to pursue meaningful progress at the table.

In the meantime, your Central Table Bargaining Committee (CTBC) has two meetings scheduled with the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) this month, and more dates in August if needed—important opportunities to push for movement at the table.
