Join the Indigenous Education facilitator team

Indigenous Education PD facilitators coach members on Indigenous-focused competencies. They present Walking Together: Education for Reconciliation workshops. 

Facilitators 

• develop relationships with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Cultural Advisors; 
• honour cultural protocols; and 
• share Indigenous expertise.

Workload and Activities

• Present 7 to 10 workshops throughout the year
• Attend ATA training sessions, Professional Development Area Conferences and Summer Conference
• Support members in Indigenous education and cultural protocols 
• Support members developing relationships with local Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Cultural Advisors

Eligibility

You must 

• have an active or associate ATA membership in good standing, 
• have five-plus years of teaching experience and 
• hold a current Alberta teaching certificate. 

How to Apply

We recommend sharing your intention to apply with your superintendent and principal. 

There are two parts to the application:

1. Write a letter of interest that includes 

• your areas of interest and expertise in Indigenous education, 
• your experience leading professional development activities and 
• your reasons for applying. 

 

2. Include your resumé, including 

• education, 
• work experience, 
• leadership experience, 
• publications, 
• presentations and 
• volunteer experience.
