Rotating in-person and online learning

The Alberta Teachers’ Association President Jason Schilling has issued the following statement with regards to schools implementing rotating in-person and online learning during the current Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) strikes.

“Switching between in-person and online instruction disrupts student learning.  This approach is not a solution. It’s teachers and schools once again being forced to hold together a system broken by the missteps and poor decisions of the government.

The government must reconsider the direction it has given school boards during negotiations, so CUPE workers can negotiate a fair collective agreement and return to their important work supporting Alberta’s students.”

The Alberta Teachers’ Association, as the professional organization of teachers, promotes and advances public education, supports teachers’ professional practice and serves as the advocate for its 51,000 members.
