Alberta Labour Relations Board Resolution

The ATA and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) attended a resolution conference at the Alberta Labour Relations Board (ALRB) today concerning the bargaining in bad faith complaint that was filed by TEBA earlier this week. At the conclusion of the meeting, after hearing from both parties, the board chose to issue a consent order. A consent order is a resolution option for the board that resolves a complaint but must be acceptable to both parties.

The order will be posted on the ALRB website today. To ensure members have the information as soon as possible, we are providing a copy of the order below.

The consent order acknowledges that the parties are committed to finding a negotiated settlement to conclude this round of central table negotiations, and confirms the remaining items left for resolution.

Those items in the proposal language to address salary include: (1) the timing of implementation for the unified salary grid and (2) a proposal for an annual long-service allowance for teachers at the top of the grid. The final part of the proposal speaks to coverage of the cost of Covid 19 vaccinations, at the discretion of the teacher.

The ATA has been invited to a meeting tomorrow with TEBA, where a response to the ATA’s proposal provided on September 10 will be provided.

Please continue to check the ATA website and your personal email for updates.
