Food Services Aide I
Casual Position
The Alberta Teachers' Association, as the professional organization of teachers, promotes and advances public education, safeguards standards of professional practice and serves as the advocate for its members.
Under the direction and supervision of the Business & Facilities Manager the Food Services Aide I works as part of a team within a service-oriented environment. The Food Services Aide I performs general duties for catered functions and the cafeteria. Specifically, this position is responsible for:
- Setting up buffets on tables and providing food and beverage services;
- Delivering and cleaning up catered food services to scheduled events;
- Taking food orders and performing cashier duties to cafeteria customers;
- Assisting with food preparation as assigned;
- Cleaning counter area, tables and ensuring tidiness of work areas;
- Ensuring cleanliness and safe dishwashing practices;
- Receiving supplies ordered; and
- Reporting, recording and assisting with the management of safety concerns in food services.
Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year experience setting up banquets and catering functions;
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and customer service skills;
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to read and write orders;
- Knowledge of food services and health and safety procedures;
- Ability to work under pressure in an extremely busy environment and organize work to ensure a smooth operation;
- Must be able to lift up to 15 kilograms and push up to 50 kilograms;
- Ability to work in varying temperatures throughout the day (freezer, coolers, dish room and hot equipment);
- Cash-handling knowledge;
- Experience setting up a bar and/or serving liquor is an asset; and
- ProServe certification is an asset. Candidates without ProServe will be required to obtain ProServe after commencing in the position.
Salary: $22.60 per hour
Hours of Work: There are no guaranteed hours per week. Daytime and weekend shifts are available between the hours of 6:30am and 3:00pm. As a casual position, hours and days of work vary, depending on business operations.
