Response to the lockout announcement

Alberta Teachers’ Association president Jason Schilling has issued the following statement with regard to the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association issuing lockout notice for teachers, commencing Thursday, October 9, 2025:

“The government’s lockout was expected, as it’s a response to teachers going on strike. The Alberta Teachers’ Association and government officials remain in talks.”

The Alberta Teachers’ Association, as the professional organization of teachers, promotes and advances public education, supports teachers’ professional practice, and serves as the advocate for its 51,000 members.
